Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me.
Jesus is very clear here that trust does not mean believing in God, but living in fear. Trust is the equivalent of being at peace, knowing that He is in control. Whenever you doubt or wonder or fear remember: Do not let your hearts be troubled! How more clear can it be?
In my Father's house there are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Wow. Isn't it comforting to know that God's house has many rooms, enough for all who choose to follow him? Jesus has gone there to make a special room just for you! He promises that he will come back and take all of us who believe in him to be with him forever. Troubles may come in this world, but it is only the shack before the room in the palace.
You know the way to the place where I am going.
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going so how can we know the way?"
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
When Jesus told his disciples that they knew the way, they got confused. Isn't it impossible to know the way to someplace if you don't know where the someplace is? Could it be possible? With God all things are possible. The way is Jesus. Even if you aren't sure exactly how to get there, knowing Jesus is enough.
