The First Day of School!

God's Princess, M&M, Sweet Pea,
Pumpkin, Sunshine, Little Buddy
Today was the first day of school! This morning, after shower, chores, and making and eating breakfast, I went outside with all my siblings to get our pictures done.  (It is a tradition in my house to take pictures on the first day of school.)  On the side you can see one of our photos.

Today I experienced part of what my school workload will be.  I had quite a bit between history, language, bible, character, math (ugh!), and piano.  Part of my school will not start till September 20th, when we start our homeschool co-op.

Along with being a first day of school picture, on the side is the first picture I have posted of my siblings.  I will include a statement about each of them.

M&M
M&M is my awesome sister who is closest to me in age.  I share almost everything with her.  She is excited to be in Junior High this year.
Interesting Fact: When we were little, people thought we were twins.

Sweet Pea
Sweet Pea is my, well, sweet little sister.  I can't believe how big she is now; I remember when she was a baby.  She is my one sibling who is honestly hard for me to get mad at.
Interesting Fact: In a Christmas picture our family did when she was a baby, Sweet Pea played the part of Baby Jesus.

Pumpkin
Pumpkin was my first little brother.  He had a very interesting growing-up time when he was little.  Because he had three big sisters, his was a world of dress-up and jewelry.  Of course he had cars and trains, but when he played with us it was always "Polly Pockets and Trains" or "Barbies and Cars".
Interesting Fact: When the nurse told us he was a boy, my Mom and Dad didn't believe her.

Sunshine and Little Buddy
Sunshine and Little Buddy are my two little munchkins who we adopted from Ethiopia nine months ago.  They are a ton of fun and I love them to pieces.  I am so glad they are a part of our family.
Interesting Facts:  Sunshine learned to read in English a month after she came home.  For the first few months he was home, Little Buddy refused to wear the boy dress-up and instead wore layer upon layer of leotards.

Here are just a few facts about my amazing siblings.  I hope to tell you more in the days to come.

The Bible Quizzing Season has Begun!!!!!!!!!

Bible Quizzing is one of the most awesome activities that I do during the school year.  Each year, we memorize a certain portion of scripture and compete on it.

This year we are memorizing John.  Above, you see a picture of the equipment we use for quizzing.
The way it works is that you sit on a sensor on a folding chair.  The "Quizmaster" askes a question from the material, and when you know it, you jump off your sensor.  The fastest jumper gets a chance to answer the question.  It may sound intimidating, but it is so fun!!!

Last night we had the start of the year kick off party with a lot of the quizzers at my house.  On the sides, there are some pictures of us playing in the back yard.    Our first practice is Thursday, and I am so excited!

In His name,
See ya!

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.       John 1:1 (Yeah, I know this verse has nothing to do with this post, but it was the first one we memorized for quizzing this year!:)

From the Inside Out

A thousand times I've failed
Still your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
Still I'm caught in your grace

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart and my soul, I give You control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise, become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart, my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out, O my soul cries out

My Soul cries out to You
My Soul cries out to You
to You, to You

My heart, my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out, O my soul cries out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out, O my soul cries out
From the inside out, O my soul cries out
From the inside out, O my soul cries out.

This song kind of goes with my last post, don't you think?

Lessons from a One Year Old: Part 1

Does it ever surprise you how the little things in life can remind you of the principles of the Christian faith?  For instance, last night I babysat for an adorable 18 month old.  Through his actions, he caused me to remember some of the basic lessons Jesus taught in the Bible.

Lesson 1:  Repetitive Failure

Last night, this little boy was playing in a toy car. (You know, one of those cars little kids sit in and push around with their feet.)  Well, he got in this car, pushed it around, and got stuck.  Then he got out, wheeled the car around to its original position, got in it, and promptly got stuck again! He repeated this about 10 or 15 times.

I wanted to laugh at him and say, "You silly boy, can't you see you're just going to get stuck again?"

Then I remembered.  How many times do I make a mistake, fix it, then go back in and do it over again?  Too many times.   Some times I wonder, how can God be patient enough to forgive me over and over again?  When people in my life disappoint me or repetitively do things to annoy me, I get frustrated at them.  I put higher expectations on others than I put on myself.  Thank you God for being so willing to forgive many, many times in a row.

In Veggie Tales movie Jonah, there is a song called "Second Chances"
Here is how the chorus goes:

Praise the Lord!
He's the God of second chances!
You'll be floored how His love your life enhances!
You can be restored from your darkest circumstances!
Our God is a God of second chances!

Isn't that so true!

In His name,
See ya!

No Longer Left Behind

Here is a poem I wrote.  I hope you enjoy!

No Longer Left Behind
I watch
A car rolls away
My friend inside
I stand on the sidewalk
Left Behind
She moves on
To greater things
I’m too young
I stay at home
Left behind
I walk upstairs
To my room
And cry
Because I am
Left Behind
A hand
Touches my shoulder
A voice
Tells me of his love
And that he’ll never
Leave me Behind
Jesus tells me
I’m just right
Where I am
And who I am
Even if I’m
Left Behind
Because of my Savior
And his love
I am
No Longer Left Behind

In His name,
See ya!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
 2 Corinthians 1:3

My God Works Miracles!

Some people think that God doesn't work miracles in the present day.  They think miracles only happened in Bible times.  Well, I want to tell you that God DOES work miracles today, both big and small.

Last year, when my family was trying to adopt my little brother and sister from Ethiopia, we were told it would take 12-16 months for us just to find out who our children were.  So we waited, and prayed, and prayed, and prayed.  Five months later, we received a call about and pictures of my beautiful brother and sister.  We brought them home six months earlier than we had planned!

That was a miracle.

A month ago, I was in a situation with some people, and I was worried that they would say something to upset my sister.  I was really worried about it.  I spent about half an hour pouring out my heart to God and crying, praying that he would protect my sister.  When I stopped praying and rejoined the group of people, one girl was telling the others to be careful what they say.  I almost fell over!  God was showing me that he heard my prayer!

That was a miracle.

Finally, last night I had a horrible pain in my foot, for no apparent reason.  It had started earlier in the day and progressively gotten worse to the point where I could not put any weight on it.  I was folding laundry, and it hurt so bad that I just broke down and cried.  I prayed to the Lord, "Jesus, please take away my pain, or if you don't, give me the strength to bear it.  Immediately, my foot started feeling better, and within 15 minutes it felt normal.  God healed me!

That was a miracle.

If you're still not convinced that God works miracles, go down to my blog list and click on "The Journey".  This is a blog done by a lady who lives in Uganda and who has adopted fourteen daughters.  She tells about some pretty "big" miracles on there.

Finally, thank you God for all the miracles you work for us everyday, some that we may not even notice.

In His Name,
See ya!

No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

Before the Throne of God Above

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me there depart
No tongue can bid me there depart
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Behold Him there the risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!

In his name,
See ya!

Just in case you needed a little cuteness.........

While my family got together with my cousins for some kickball, my little sweetie cousin had fun watching and playing with my sister's sunglasses!

Isn't she the cutest?!

In His name,
See ya!

Every good and perfect gift is from above.  James 1:17

I Have a Blog!!!!!!!

Hi! I'm God's Princess and welcome to my blog! I can't believe I finally have one.  I hope this blog will brighten your day as you journey with me through the joys and struggles of being a big sister to five siblings.  I will also soon be graduating to the status of "big kid" because I am starting high school! Ultimately, this blog has three purposes.

1. To share my life in order to be an encouragement to you.

2. To practice writing. (For I hope to major in English and Journalism)

3. Lastly, but certainly not least, this blog's purpose is to bring glory to God and to further His Kingdom.

In His name,
See ya!

Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made.  John 1:3
